Ice Hockey Skates

Ice hockey skates differ from figure skates in their construction and blade style.

  • Ice hockey skates are stiffer in order to protect from impacts, but are often preferred by people who need additional support for their ankles
  • The blade has a curved front and back for tight turns and quick acceleration, with a flatter middle for speed. There is no toe pick, as this should only be used for rotations in jumps (not common in ice hockey!)
  • The blade is thinner for maneuverability
